Tyson Family Scholarship in Teaching

This scholarship has been established in memory of Lorene Tyson, an elementary school teacher for 39 years, most of which were teaching first grade in Artesia, NM. and in memory of Ruth Tyson, an elementary school teacher for 20 years in Texas, Japan, Utah, and New Mexico. These sisters-in-law were devoted to their profession, and as early childhood educators, had a profound influence on hundreds of students throughout their teaching careers. The Tyson family recognizes the significant impact of early childhood education, and it is their desire for the recipients to create a lasting legacy through their careers as educators.
