Matthew E. Davenport Memorial Scholarship

The Matthew E. Davenport Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the life of an outstanding son and brother who left us too early in life. He is best known for his big, beautiful smile, sparkling green eyes, his towering stature at 6’4" tall; he is mostly remembered for his strength, kindness and compassion. He learned civic engagement and responsibility by helping his sister with trash pick-ups, both partisan and non-partisan campaign efforts, volunteering at animal shelters, immigrant and social justice causes, and serving food to those in need. His final, most selfless gift was organ donation to help someone else, live a long life through his selfless act. He graduated from Tarrant County College and completed his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Tarleton State University. A rare blood disorder took him in September of 2024, two months prior to celebrating his 30th birthday. Matthew would want his legacy of kindness and social and civic responsibility to live on through this scholarship.
